Too Early for Fall?
As much as I like summer--and I love it more with every passing year--fall is still my favorite, and I feel primed to bake! I know many of my northern friends feel the same way when the breezes start to cool. Now, we'll just wait for the color show to start.
Did I ever tell you...
Did I ever tell you I made a birthday cake for Detroit Piston, André Drummond? Well, it's true. In 2015, the Piston player invited the public to celebrate with him aboard the Detroit Princess river boat. At the 11th hour, Élan Events was contacted to help make Dre's birthday special with a custom cake. The cake was yellow with peanut butter cream filling and vanilla buttercream icing, as requested. The penguin was created from styrofoam and fondant. It's my first (but not my last!) brush with celebrity.
Starry, Starry Night
I didn't intend for Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night" to become my signature piece, but how could it NOT be, right? I do love the painting. Here it is, hand-painted on a 5 x 7" iced sugar cookie and boxed for a gift.
